Hosting a self-defense course

  • Filling a Self-Defense Course
  • Training Room
  • Travel and Accommodations
  • Class Meals During a Basic Course

Seminars can be taught to larger groups and there is not a limit to the audience size.

Self-defense courses are limited to a maximum of 15 students. Courses can be tailored to a specific group or situation.

Filling a Self-defense Course:

Expect a 20% to 30% drop out rate to include one or two drops on the day of class.

A basic self-defense course can be taught over the course of one weekend: Sat/Sun or Fri/Sat/Sun; or spread out over five weeks one day per weekday is another option.

Students between 14 and 17 should have a female parent/guardian attend the course with them. We deal with real issues of violence, sexuality, relationships, strong emotions, and prefer minors have a related adult attend the entire course with them. The self-defense techniques are no nonsense self-defense and geared for real world street violence. We prefer the youngest age to be 14, but there are situations that may warrant admitting younger teens. If there are numerous students in their young teens, we will modify the class outline and format according to the age group.

Training Facility or Location:

Need floor covering; carpet is acceptable but with at least some padding under the carpet. Velcro inter-locking gymnastic mats are preferred, but not essential. At a minimum we must have something covering a hard surface floor. For a class of ten to 16 students, figure about 45 feet (15 meters) length/width (either square or rectangle open spaces); enough room for everyone to move freely as if they were in an exercise formation. Windows should have coverings from outside foot traffic due more so to the sexual nature of some aspects of the course.

If you chose to have a course graduation, there should be enough space for invited guests and media to sit and be comfortable. We also like to have a room set up in lecture format or half circle with chairs. The room should be darkened for use of a projector for video and PowerPoint. We need a white wall that we can project onto. We use PowerPoint and video because it adds a visual dynamic to the learning process and especially for studying the rapist typologies and building the winner’s mindset for fighting back.

Travel and Accommodations:

Travel Costs are amortized within the tuition.

Class Meals for Students during Basic Course:

We recommend everyone bring lunch or cater the meals so everyone eats as a group, or you can have everyone go out. Going out is NOT recommended because getting back on time does not occur which impacts the end time. Class hours depend on whether you want lunch and dinner, or lunch and snacks. You may want to coordinate with catering meals and include the cost of the meals into the tuition. If we leave off-sight for lunch, it is likely lunch drags on to beyond an hour, and then shortens what we can give to you and your students.

Checklist and course paperwork will be forwarded to assist you in hosting a seminar.

Student tuition is per person that amortizes all travel costs for a Basic Course. Variable costs include the cost of room space or spikes in airfares.
